In 1940, he conducted what was one of radio’s first religious broadcasts. It was on the then new invention of television that he earned national recognition through his show Life is Worth Living. He wrote a five volume series of books named for the show as well as over fifty other works. He was ordained in 1919 and was the Bishop of Rochester until his resignation in 1969. He spent his time writing and lecturing from then on.
